GAME WINNER IN OT LAUNCHES BLUE OX TO USPHL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

MN Blue Ox Sweep Their Second Consecutive Playoff Series

COON RAPIDS, MN – It took an overtime goal by the Minnesota Blue Ox leading scorer, Michael Clough launched the Blue Ox to the USPHL National Tourney with the 6-5 win.   The goal for the Andover, MN native tallied the game winner, his 38th goal of the season, 7:13 into OT, a win gave the Blue Ox their second series sweep.  The 2022 USPHL Midwest West Division champions (41-6-1) took the best of three series 2-0 of the Minnesota Moose and swept the Dells Ducks 2-0 in first round of USPHL Premier playoff series on March 4th and 5th.

No Average Joe…Anoka’s, Joe Moen, was the Blue Ox goalie for both wins this past weekend. Moen is 21-3 GAA of 2.20.   Nine different Blue Ox players had goals this weekend as Clough two goals and assists led the way.

In The Zone…The Minnesota Blue Ox, blueoxhockey.com  have now won ten straight games heading into the USPHL National Round Robin Tourney next Thursday, March 24th in Hudson, New Hampshire.  During the 10-game win streak, the Blue Ox have outscored their opponents 72-30.  Earlier this season, the Blue Ox also had a 15-game win streak.

USPHL National Round Robin Playoff Foes…Their first game of the 2022 National Round Robin playoff is   Thursday vs the Fresno Monsters at 8:45pm, followed by a Friday game at 6:15pm against the Richmond Generals.  On Saturday they conclude the three game National playoff with a 1pm game with the Toledo Cherokee.  This is the consecutive year the Blue Ox have advanced to the National Round Robin, last year they went 2-1, just an OT loss away from advancing to the Final Four USPHL Championship.  All games are EDT.

Need to Know about MN Blue Ox Hockey Team…In their 5th season, the Blue Ox are led by Owner/GM/Head Coach Jay Witta and Assistant Coaches, Jason Wood and Mark Schiffman. The team consist of a great blend of 1st and 2nd year players representing Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Texas, Alaska and Europe this season.  Winners of the Midwest West Division, consist of nine players with 11 goals or more led by 2nd year players Michael Clough (2001), from Andover, MN. Clough is the Blue Ox all-time leading scorer with 35 regular season goals and 76 points this season and (2002), Hayden Masloski, compiled 56 assists (4th in the league) and 18 goals, is another Andover, MN player.
